Clinics & Services

Asthma / Respiratory & Diabetic Care   


These conditions require regular checks by the practice nurse to help you to stay healthy – ask at reception.

Heart Disease


Our practice nurses assist the doctor with treatment of patients with coronary heart disease and how to decrease the risks of developing it.

Minor Surgery                  

We offer a wide range of minor surgery treatments including wart treatment and skin tag removal, avoiding the need for hospital appointments. Please ask at reception for details.

Contraception & HRT


Advice regarding contraception, including the ‘morning after pill’ are available and follow-up checks are done by the nurse.


Cervical Smears


It is recommended that all women between the ages of 24 and a half and 65 years have a cervical smear test every 3 years in order to prevent cancer of the cervix. An appointment can be made with the practice nurse.


Family Planning Services


We provide a full range of contraceptive services and advice, including oral contraception and injections. If you require emergency contraception please contact the surgery as soon as possible for advice


Smoking Cessation Service


Our nurses are qualified to advice patients who wish to give up smoking.


Adult Immunisation


We recommend that all patients over the age of 65 years and those patients who suffer from chronic illnesses, such as lung disease (bronchitis, asthma, emphysema etc.), heart disorder, kidney disease or diabetes should have a vaccination to prevent influenza each autumn.


Before travelling abroad, we strongly recommend that you seek advice from the practice nurse regarding appropriate vaccination. Please plan well ahead so that the full course of treatment can be given before your departure. We advise that you contact the nurse at least 6 weeks before you are due to leave.


Child Health Surveillance


The Practice provides child health surveillance services together with the health visitors every Tuesday afternoon in our child health clinic. If you have any worries or concerns about your child's development, please come to the clinic and see the doctor or the health visitor. There is also a Child Clinic on Thursdays from 12.30 to 14.30 with the health visitors.

A child immunisation clinic is held every Tuesday between 14:00 and 16:00. The clinic is conducted by one of the health visitors, with a doctor in attendance, to carry out child health surveillance examinations and for advice if necessary.


Ante-Natal / Maternity Care


Provided by the doctor during normal surgery times and by the midwife. The midwife holds regular Monday & Tuesday clinics.

Community Psychiatric Nurse

We have the services of a team of community psychiatric nurses who are based in the Roslin, Nanat y Gamar Road, Llandudno, where they hold clinics and day care sessions, clinics are also held at Mostyn House Medical Practice. They work in the community providing assessment, counselling and treatment for nervous disorders.

Dietician

We have the services of a dietician employed by the Conwy & Denbighshire NHS Trust once a fortnight. She advises on all aspects of diet, from weight problems to diets for particular diseases. Appointments can be made following consultation with the doctor or practice nurse.

Home Oxygen Therapy

This is now supplied by a company called Air Products, not by a local chemist. Air Products have a 24 hour emergency line that you can contact on 0800 373580.

Mammography

As well as regular breast self-examination, all women aged 50-65 years can have this X-ray test every three years. You should receive an appointment from Breast Test Wales (contactable on 01492 860888) appropriate intervals.

Phlebotomy

Our phlebotomist is in the surgery Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday between 08.30 and 11.30, she will take your blood and they will then be sent direct to the hospital. Please allow 5 days for your result to be returned. INR blood tests are returned on the day the bloods are taken. Please phone the surgery for all blood tests results, these results can be obtained from one of our receptionists.
