The Welsh GP Record (WGPR) enables the people caring for you to access a summary of important health information held in the full GP record, wherever you are in Wales.
When you visit a GP, information about the care or treatment you receive is noted on your GP record. This is usually stored on a computer system, but not all systems are connected to each other. For example, if you are admitted to hospital or need an appointment with an Out of Hours GP, the person providing your care isn’t able to see your medical history.
In the WGPR, a summary of information is made available so that the health professionals treating you can make informed decisions about the care they provide you, so you don't have to remember and repeat information about your health.
It improves patient safety and quality of care through quicker access to information, including your current medication, your medical history, and allergies.
